Manchester United maintained their unbeaten status in Europe this season, but they weren't really outstanding against their Spanish opponent. So, what were the main talking points from the game? Read on to find out.
Garnacho needs to work on his finishing
Garnacho missed many scoring opportunities in the game. The Argentine forward has got to work on his finishing if he really wants to excel as a Manchester United player. The 20-year-old forward hasn't scored for Manchester United since November last year - to show how poor he has been in front of goal this season. If he continues to waste goalscoring opportunities, I won't be shocked if Amorim decides to ship him out in the summer.
Rasmus Hojlund can't afford to lead Manchester United's attack next season
The Denmark international has been so poor for Manchester United so far this season. To buttress my point, he hasn't scored for Manchester United in his last 19 games for the club. A stat that's very embarrassing for a striker. Ruben Amorim has showed in recent games that he is not okay with the striker's output in the attack by bringing in teenage striker Chido Obi-Martin to replace the former Atalanta striker.
It's very obvious that Manchester United can't go into next season relying on Hojlund for goals if they really want to change levels. The scout have got to bring in a proven goalscorer to replace Hojlund and maybe send Hojlund on loan elsewhere to develop himself or sell him. Otherwise, Manchester United are asking for trouble if they go on to rely on Hojlund next season for goals.
Dorgu was jittery and needs to play with confidence
The 20-year-old fullback was low on confidence in his display against Real Sociedad. Maybe the red card he got in the game against Ipswich was the reason for his jittery display against Real Sociedad. He really wasn't impressive in the night and he really needs to raise the standards of his game if he wants to make it as a Manchester United player.
