The defeat to West Ham means Manchester United are without a win in their last four matches in all competitions. So what were the key talking points from the game? Read on to find out.
Kobbie Mainoo the only bright spark in the team against West Ham
I know his error led to Mohammed Kudus scoring the second goal but that was the only time he got it wrong all through the game. The boy is only 18 and still has a lot of time ahead to develop into a superstar midfielder. I just hope his mistake in the game doesn't affect his confidence going forward. The boy was the only positive in a game where virtually all the players down tools. If he continues to get more game time and gets nurtured properly, there is no doubt he will grow into becoming a world beater.
Edson Alvarez was superb for West Ham
The Mexican was superb in midfield for West Ham. He was virtually everywhere on the pitch defending against Manchester United and I really think he should be the Man of The Match for West Ham. He is 26, still think he can develop into a monster in midfield for both club and country.
Manchester United's attack was practically dead in the game
The attackers were poor save for Antony who impressed a bit with his passes and defending. Hojlund, Garnacho, Bruno Fernandes and even Rashford (when he came on in the second half) were all poor. Manchester United enjoyed the lion's share of the possession all through the game but couldn't do anything meaningful with the possession. Bruno Fernandes looked lost, while Garnacho was very poor with his final decisions. If Manchester United are to still make the top four this season, then the attackers really need to improve. Otherwise, I see Manchester United finishing outside the top four with this sort of performance from the attackers.
