PUNDITS ON THE PREMIER LEAGUE: MAN CITY AND CHELSEA TIPPED TO WIN THE LEAGUE

Who will win the league? Which teams will make the top four? Can Harry Kane defend his Golden Boot? And which team looks to surprise everyone this season?
Here's what the analysts had to say...

WHO WILL WIN THE LEAGUE?

ODIKO GODWIN: MAN CITY

Chelsea doesn't give that solid impression - that they can retain the title they won last season - thanks to the signings they have made - as 3 out of their 4 signings so far; lack Premier League experience. And they seem to lack squad depth at the moment - having let a massive 28 players go; bringing in only 4.

They are also going to find playing continental football alongside league games too tasking and herculean.

I would have tipped Manutd - if Jose Mourinho had gotten at least one attacker; in form of a winger before the start of the season - to supplement the quality signings made by the club thus far.

City looks the surest team to land the title this season. Having made signings that actually befits Guardiola's taste and style. Though, a quality Center Defender is still needed, I still see them pulling the title with the quality around now.

USMAN LUKMAN: MAN CITY

Man City will win the league. Guardiola and City had a disappointing season last term and the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich tactician is too experienced not to realise that a quick response this season is of utmost necessity, which I believe he will be able to achieve. Pep has shown intent by spending big in the transfer window and bringing in highly rated players especially in the defensive area; the department City were often found wanting last season. With the likes of Sergio Aguero, Gabriel Jesus, Fernandinho, David Silva and new signing Bernardo Silva, City should be giving their best shot at the title since 2014.

OLADIPO TOLUWALOGO: CHELSEA

I think Chelsea will likely retain it if they can make a couple more signings.

They have leaders in the team who knows how to wriggle out results when things are going bad. It will be hard for them but then the major challengers are also involved in european competition, so if they can start well. Navigate the first 5 fixtures. Then they can win it.

But in case they don't reinforce I am tipping Man City, you cannot ignore them, they might not have leaders who can grind out results but they young and skillful players who can make something out of nothing.

MICHAEL IMIANVAN: CHELSEA

Difficult to pick, tough decision to make but still, I have got soft spot for Chelsea to win the league thus retaining the title.

Antonio Conte's men gets my nod due to the kind of business they've done during the transfer window.

The partnership of Kante and Bakayoko looks mouthwatering, Rudiger at the back is such a big deal. Morata, need some adaptation but should come up good as the season progresses.

The blues have got some winning mentality and consistency in them but playing in Europe could make it difficult.
Hopefully they would avoid a "Mourinho Season" and make my prediction come through but erm, If Arsenal wins, I'd be a happy man.

WHICH TEAMS WILL MAKE THE TOP FOUR?

ODIKO GODWIN
: 1- Man City 2- Manutd 3- Arsenal 4- Chelsea

USMAN LUKMAN: Very difficult to pick with almost every team of the 'new top 6 teams' strengthening in one department or the other but since I have to predict then I'd go for Man City, Chelsea, Man United and Arsenal.

OLADIPO TOLUWALOGO: 1- Chelsea 2- Man City 3- Manutd 4- Arsenal.
Tottenham will only go down this season.

MICHAEL IMIANVAN:
1- Chelsea 2- Arsenal 3- Man Utd 4- Man City

WHO WILL WIN THE GOLDEN BOOT?

ODIKO GODWIN: Spurs don't look like a team that will finish among the top four right now - and it's not going to help Harry Kane's quest for the award. So I am tipping Lukaku who finished second behind the Englishman last season - scoring a mammoth 25 league goals at Everton. Just see him improving on that stat with Manutd this season.

USMAN LUKMAN: It doesn't look like Diego Costa will really be involved in the PL this season, so the likes of Harry Kane, Alexis Sanchez (if he stays), Romelu Lukaku and Sergio Aguero will be contesting for this one. Lukaku might not be able to nick this one because of Mourinho's style to quickly resort to defensive football. Aguero has not shown that he can be fit all season long. Alexis is a winger, which could be a factor to stopping him get the prize. Harry Kane might come on top once again because of his ability to stay fit and most importantly score goals.

OLADIPO TOLUWALOGO: Romelu Lukaku
The golden Boot should go to Romelu Lukaku. Kane can also win this if Tottenham performs well. So many potential golden boot winners.

MICHAEL IMIANVAN: Harry Kane
It has been a massive influx of strikers into the EPL this season. From Big Money Alvaro Morata to Alexander Lacazette, pick out Mohammed Salah, don't forget West Ham's Javier Hernandez, Everton's Davy Klaasen. You fail to mention Romelu Lukaku, then I'd screw you!

Good, technical, pacy and prolific strikers all around. Picking the golden boot winner seems extremely hard but am going with the guys who knows the environment well. Kane, Lukaku, Sanchez (if he stays at Arsenal), Liverpool's Mane.

My pick from the above is Tottenham's Harry Kane.

WHICH TEAM WILL SURPRISE EVERYONE THIS SEASON?

ODIKO GODWIN: Arsenal

It's no longer going to be surprising if Everton achieve anything out of the box this season - having seen them improve the team immensely. But the team I am tipping to surprise everyone this season is - Arsenal. Despite the fact: they are going to find it difficult - playing Europa league football; alongside league games.

USMAN LUKMAN: Newcastle

I think Newcastle United will surprise many of us.

They won the Championship in a dramatic fashion, finishing above Brighton and Hove Albion when it looked like Brighton were going to win it 3 weeks before the final day of the season.

After promotion, I think Newcastle will be looking to finish in a strong position as they've got the players, manager and tradition of doing so.

OLADIPO TOLUWALOGO: Newcastle
Newcastle might surprise this team. Benitez's experience of the PL will serve him well. Moreso, Newcastle have a lot of history in the EPL.

MICHAEL IMIANVAN: Everton
It comes straight and simple to me to pick Everton.

Some transfers to take note of. Over 8 players are in, as home boy Wayne Rooney is back in the fold.

Lost Romelu Lukaku to Man Utd but still won't rub the club off some good football.
Could fight for the Top four at least.
