Five Key Points From Manutd's Win Over Leicester

By Odiko Godwin

Rashford v Martial

It was a spot well earned - once the starting lineup was publicized and Martial was starting over Rashford. Having impressed in his two "cameo appearances" before the Leicester game, it was rewarding and justifiable to see him start over the usual Rashford. But it wasn't a day for the Frenchman to get among the scorers, but he did well, before Rashford came in initially for Mata in the 67th minute - before replacing Martial in the left flank after the French international was withdrawn for Lingard in the 75th minute. And we all knew what the change brought: an assist and a goal from the Englishman. That's a healthy competition that should continue all through the season.

Another assist from Mkhitaryan

His assist in the game brought his total number of assists in just three games to five. One shy of the six he recorded from 27 appearances last season. And stat from Opta suggested: Henrikh Mkhitaryan has equalled the PL record for most assists in his first three apps in a season (5 by Ruel Fox in 1994/95). Also, making the Armenian responsible for half of the 10 goals United have scored so far. That is a massive improvement by all standards. Continue in this form, and he will prove why United paid a fee in the region of £30m for his services from Dortmund.

Craig Shakespeare has done a good job on Leicester

Last season, Leicester were sure heading for the drop, in what almost turned out to be a "calamitous title-defending" season for The Foxes - until Shakespeare came to the rescue; ensuring a 12th place finish for the former English champions. He didn't only save their season, he has also got them playing the "Leicester way" that won them the title two seasons ago. He is definitely not going to win the league this season, but he might secure Europa league place for his side, and maybe a few surprises in the domestic cup games.

Jose Mourinho has been spot on with his tactics so far

The Portuguese is renowned for his magics during his second stints with clubs. And if what he has shown so far in the season are anything to go by, then, we might be on for another magical Mourinho season again. His approach to games and tactics during games: which includes his changes during games have been perfect and rewarding. If he continues like this, then you wouldn't be exaggerating if you tip United for the title this season.

Bad day in the office for Lukaku

Though United came out with a comfortable win, it would have been much more spectacular if Lukaku had converted a few chances that came his way - including the missed penalty. But games like that just goes to prove why relying on your striker alone for goals can be dangerous, and thankfully United got the goals from Rashford and Fellaini - when Lukaku was squandering his chances. And this really points United to a glorious season if things continue in this fashion.
