FIVE KEY POINTS FROM MANUTD'S WIN OVER SWANSEA

By Odiko Godwin

Consistency! Consistency!! Consistency!!!

One of Mourinho's undoing last season was - not knowing the best team early enough.
But if what we saw against Swansea is anything to go by; then it's safe to say United and Mourinho have found the best team for the job(at hand), and at the right time.

After an impressive showing against West Ham on the opening day, Mourinho decided to stick with the same first eleven and also introduce similar changes to what we saw at Old Trafford last week - and we all knew how it ended in Wales - 4-0.

A fit and in-form Mkhitaryan will pay this season

The Armenian was almost anonymous until the last 20 minutes of the game - providing two assists and winning the Man Of The Match award in the process. His ability to spot the openings around oppositions area and thread those important passes, alongside his slick movements(with and without the ball) and his eye for goals - will go a long way in aiding United to glory this season.

Swansea need to reinforce after Sigurdsson's transfer

The Iceland international played a vital role last season for The Swans - as they managed to escape the drop. His ability to score from set pieces really helped Paul Clement's team - and his absence will be truly felt. But Swansea got £45M from his sale to Everton and can get 2-3 players from that that can improve the team. But from everything they displayed against United, it's evident some persons have to come in to improve the team.

Lukaku will get you goals, and more goals

His goal against Swansea was his fourth for United in three official matches, and his third in two Premier League matches, not counting those he scored in pre-season. Scoring 25 -league goals for Everton last season just encourages United fans to expect more goals from the former Chelsea man at United.

Bailly's goal shows United can now get goals from every department.

Another of United's major undoing last season was depending solely on Zlatan and the attackers for goals. But if Bailly's first goal and Pogba's second in two games are anything to go by, then United fans can afford a smile - cause their team isn't going to be dependent on Lukaku and the attackers for goals, Bailly too will score. And that is a massive improvement from last season.

  1. In as much as this is a perfect start to the season, I don't want to get carried away. We are yet to face our rivals and those other stubborn teams. If we overcome them, I can be satisfied but not now.
