IF NEYMAR WANTS TO BECOME THE WORLD'S BEST ANYTIME SOON: NOW IS THE TIME TO LEAVE BARCELONA

The Brazilian will get the chance to win the prestigious award - with a move away from the Catalan giants. And must make the move as soon as possible.

Its all over the front pages of major sporting newspapers and various sporting website headlines; that Neymar is unsettled at Barcelona - and wants out. But the Brazilian has his major reason for seeking such 'rebellious' move - as the Barcelona board might consider it. And his reason is clear enough for the faintest of hearts to grasp. He wants to have a feel of what it entails to be rated number one in the world.

The world has not witnessed a different Ballon d'Or and FIFA World Player of the Year winner; other than the duo of: Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo - in the last nine years, with the two amassing the award amongst themselves - five times and four times respectively. Though - very obvious is the fact that: both have been the best players over those years, a new 'principal' is something every true football lover would really want to see.
The Portuguese has won the award four times

Messi has won the award a record five times

With Neymar desperately urging for a move away from Spain, the desire of those enthusiasts might soon be met.

The final three nominees for the award in the year 2015 were:  Messi, Ronaldo and Neymar - with the latter finishing behind the Argentine and the Portuguese.

At 22, Lionel Messi had won his first World Best Player award, with Ronaldo winning his first at 23. Just indicates the frustration - when Neymar at 25 hasn't gone a step further than third runner up.

It's quite conspicuous that Neymar operates under the shadow of Lionel Messi at Barcelona. As the Argentine forward is widely regarded as the 'main-man' in the Spanish club. And for Neymar to change that, it's consequential he quits Barcelona. And get the kind of feeling he derives - when he plays for the Brazilian national team.
Neymar commands more attention playing for the Brazilian national team than with his club

At Barcelona, Neymar doesn't only confront Messi for the position of supremacy, but also has to challenge Luiz Suarez - who sometimes takes the shine off Messi.

A move to PSG will afford Neymar the rare opportunity of becoming the center of attraction at a clubside again: something he last experienced at Santos. But it is the quality of the league he is going to - that tends to cast doubt on the minds of many - whether the Brazilian can win the award -  playing Ligue 1 matches.
Neymar was 'king' at Santos

But those doubters fail to identify that; goals, assists and trophies are all that matters for anyone to win the World Best Player award in modern day football.

And if Neymar eventually gets to win the Ligue 1 with PSG, emerging as the highest goal scorer in the process, alongside - winning the UEFA Champions League and, also notching the golden boot award, there is no gainsaying the fact; he stands a better chance of winning the prestigious award than anyone else.

PSG as a football club posses the profile demanded of a team that seeks to dominate Europe. As they have got the players, coaches, facilities and more importantly the financial backings to achieve that silhouette.

However, Neymar has to cut off some 'non-essentials' on the pitch, and off it - in other to really afford himself the chance of winning the award anytime soon, regardless of the club he is. His showboating has to reduce, and focus more on achieving meaningful results on the pitch. And also, his carouse lifestyle has to be curtailed, so he can devote more time to developing his talent; a practice Ronaldo was renowned for, helping the Portuguese rival Messi - whose talent is widely acclaimed to be 'out of this world'.

For someone who Ronaldinho dubbed as 'my heir', now is the time for Neymar to step out of Messi's shadow, and Ronaldo's territory - and go on to truly become the Bralizian's heir to the (The World Best Footballer) throne. And the time to step out is now.

  1. If PSG can win the Champions League with Neymar, he's good to win the World's best player but without any indication that the French club is close to doing that, his transfer to Paris might just be another big buzz.

Saying Neymar's showboating needs to reduce just won't happen. It's part of the PR which equals more money.

    1. Well stated Chief. But I think he won't achieve much on the pitch - doing showboating often. Has to focus on getting those desired stats on the pitch if he truly wants to become football's no 1 anytime soon. That's part of the sacrifices he has to pay.
