Five Key Points From Manutd Win Over Southampton

Paul Pogba had a fantastic debut on his return to oldtrafford, but it was Zlatan Ibrahimovic' that got the oldtrafford crowd leaping for joy with his brace. Here are the five key points I deduced from the encounter with Southampton.

MOURINHO FINALLY GOT MANUTD PLAYING HIS WAY
Compact at the back, Disciplined in midfield and purposeful attacking moves was what the lads displayed against Southampton. Last season under LVG the team lacked those penetrative-purposeful passes forward, always focused on gaining possession but the Portuguese has now changed that with United midfield players especially Paul Pogba getting the freedom and room to drive forward something that LVG prohibits.

BAPTISM OF FIRE FOR FELLAINI?
The Belgian has really showed great improvement to his play under Mourinho, and is gradually winning over the Manutd fans heart with recent display in midfield. Termed as the "Scape goat" during Moyes and LVG's era, Fellaini is now determined to change that this season. But will he be able to continue in this vein of form and make up the ideal midfield partnership with Pogba? We will have to wait and see.

ZLATAN CAN'T STOP SCORING
He has now scored in every match he has played in the united colours since he made his unofficial debut against Galatasaray. The Swedish striker is fast proving he is well suited for the Premier league, after scoring thrice in just two appearances in the league for the Reds. His commanding presence in the box, and his ability to link up play from midfield are great attributes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and also vital for a Premier league striker.

OLDTRAFFORD FANS WILL SCARE OPPONENTS THIS SEASON
Mourinho has always reiterated how he cherish the fans to be loud behind their team and that was exactly what he got last night against Southampton. The Crowd were cheering every move; especially that of new boy Paul Pogba. If the Crowd can continue cheering the team at home this way, opponents would get slaughtered this season at Oldtrafford, only made possible by the massive backing of the noisy home fans.

RASHFORD HAS TO WAIT FOR HIS CHANCE
With Ibrahimovic firing on all cylinders, its would be difficult to see last season's hero Marcus Rashford get much playing time in the forward position this season. But the English forward can also play at the flanks which might be his only chance of getting playing time this season. Unless an Injury to Zlatan or Mourinho tries to rest him, Rashford would have to wait for his chance this season.
