In a night where the Super Falcons of Nigeria clinched 'Mission X' in Morocco, the lines look to be falling into places for Manchester United to claim 'Mission 21' this season.
After watching the team A of Manchester United totally dominate their first PL Summer Series against West Ham in America, I can categorically tell every Manchester United fan reading this that 'Mission 21' is really possible. I will try to make this piece as short as possible as it's just my pointer to a possible EPL success for Amorim in his first full season in charge.
I look at the fluidity in the attack for Manchester United from the team A and I was really pleased. The front three of Hojlund, Cunha and Fernandes were really delightful to watch. To put things into context, Hojlund who might be sold come the end of the window could have scored twice in the game. Cunha was very aggressive and creative and captain fantastic Fernandes very dangerous in front of goal as always - getting all of Manchester United's goals.
The midfield of Ugarte and Mainoo was equally impressive. Making me wonder why Amorim started Casemiro ahead of Ugarte for most part of last season. Well, the manager said he learnt a lot from last season. So maybe starting Ugarte ahead of Casemiro means so. Hopefully, we can get in a promising young central midfielder to replace the aging Casemiro who looked a complete mess when brought in in the second half.
Amad and Dorgu were very lively on the flanks and look set to be Amorim's preferred wing backs going into the new season. The three center back pairing were also impressive just a slight mistake from Heaven who should have done better to stop Bowen's goal - the only question mark for that center back trio of Heaven, De Ligt and Yoro. Bayindir in goal didn't need to do much so he can't really be rated in the game.
Judging from what I saw from the boys against West Ham and with the possibility of still strengthening the squad in the window, I can boldly say Mission 21 is very well possible.
Who are the players we can get in to accomplish Mission 21? Gianluigi Donnaruma is available. Get him to replace the error-prone Onana. Then go all out for a proven goalscorer in Isak (who is graciously available). If we can get these two players to the already acquired players then there is no stopping Mission 21.
