Welcome to my weekly column on notable happenings in the world of football across the globe.
Ruben Amorim is not another Ten Hag, he is exactly what Manutd needs
I remember making a video on my Facebook in 2021 when Erik Ten Hag was appointed and I was so elated that my beloved club have eventually gotten a proper manager after many years of searching post Sir Alex Ferguson.
I was happy because I knew what Erik Ten Hag did with Ajax and how it would be absolutely loving to see him replicate at Manutd. However, Erik Ten Hag disappointed as he could not turn Manutd into his swashbuckling football playing Ajax to the disappointment of many.
I wrote in my last column that he needs to win at Jose Mourinho's Fenerbahce to save job but he drew and still kept his job. But it was only a matter of time before he was kicked out after a terrible performance at struggling West Ham.
I see people including club legend like Paul Scholes saying Ruben Amorim will be another Ten Hag. No sir, I beg to disagree. He won't be another Ten Hag. At least, if he is able to implement his philosophy at United. Something Ten Hag failed to do.
As I was elated when we hired Erik Ten Hag in 2021, I am even more elated with the hiring of Ruben Amorim because we didn't allow City hire him after Guardiola leaves (which is something on the pipeline).
Ruben Amorim will succeed at Manutd if the board are willing to back him as they backed Erik Ten Hag.
So dear Manutd fans, perish the idea that Ruben Amorim is another Ten Hag. We have gotten ourselves in Amorim one of the best managers in the planet. Plus he is only 39! Which means, he will be full of innovative ideas being young in body and mind. This might just be Manchester United 's biggest win since Sir Alex Ferguson retired.
Ballon d' Or is rubbish, Vini was robbed and it's saddening
It's no longer news that Manchester City's Rodri won the prestigious Ballon d' Or award ahead of Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior, which, to me is broad day light robbery.
The fact that the winner of the award leaked to the public hours before the pronouncement further rubbished the award. I think it's time FIFA starts giving their own World best award differently from the combined thing they are doing with Ballon d' Or.
Because I don't see how Rodri wins over Vini if it was players and coaches that voted not some bunch of journalists who can barely interpret the game.
Fraudiola fails at Bournemouth a further testament to the fact that he is overhyped
Pep Fraudiola sorry Guardiola couldn't even secure the betting ticket of those who staked on them to at least draw against Bournemouth. What a disgrace. Despite parading the world's finest players in his team. He fell like a pack of cards at Bournemouth on Sunday.
Many are easily deceived by Guardiola's achievements at the clubs he has managed but not me. I will respect him if he can manage a team like Liverpool to win the league against a Manchester City side something Jurgen Klopp was able to do.
In my top three ranking of all time best managers, Guardiola doesn't come close. My top three all time best are:
1) Sir Alex Ferguson
2) Jurgen Klopp
3) Carlo Ancelotti
Pep will come fifth behind Xabi Alonso in my rankings.
He is not so special, he is just privileged to work with the best players everywhere he has managed.
